Once Upon A Time

Once upon a time, we were superheroes...

Once upon a time, nothing could touch us. Nothing could hurt us.

Once upon a time, maybe we didn't save anyone but ourselves, but that was enough for us.

Once upon a time, we slayed our enemies with spite, with humor, with laughter, with our words, and with our silence.

Once upon a time, sunlight was our domain, and moonlight. We walked in light and in dark.

I don't know what our super powers were, and maybe we didn't ever even think about it, but we knew we had them.

Once upon a time we thought we were invincible, and maybe we really were, once upon a time.

Once upon a time we thought there would be no end to our revels, to our fun, to our reign of magic, of delight.

But that was all once upon a time, and I don't know where it all went....
